Marilyn Meyers

In 1995, when a local dance studio discontinued its monthly ballroom dances, Marilyn Meyers, who moved to Dallas from Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1986, organized a group of ballroom dancers who formed a dance club. The new Club chose the name -  "Dance Connections Club".  The purpose of the new club was to sponsor a ballroom dance once a month with live bands.  The Club held its first dance in September 1995.  Marilyn served as Interim President of the Club until the first election was held in 1996.  At that time she was elected President and served as President for nearly four years in addition to her term as Interim President.  Under her leadership, the Club grew grown from approximately 25 Charter Members to over 200 members.

Marilyn Meyers friendly personality, her steadfast leadership, her innovative ideas, and her ability to inspire other Club Members to devote many hours each month to Club activities contributed to the Dance Connections Club becoming the Premier Ballroom Dance Club in the Dallas Area.

In 2003, the Board of Directors changed the clubs name to the Marilyn Meyers Dance Connections Club to honor Marilyn Meyers, its founder.  Marilyn died of cancer in October 2003.
